ESA Newsletter: December 2000

From the Immediate Past President, Ray Rogers

ICE 2000 Plenary Lecturer Lord Robert Winston, with ESA President Ray RodgersOur Annual General Meeting has been and gone. Relatively few members were able to attend due to competing events at ICE 2000. If you have the time please read the minutes in this edition, especially where I thanked many people for their efforts this last year. The Editor will be annoyed if I repeat myself here, but I would like to thank ESA Council members, Ivone Johnson and those off Council who have helped and supported ESA during my term as President.

ICE 2000 was really a very successful meeting for our Society. I would not only like to thank the local organizing committee again, but also those of you who were energetic enough to run the satellite meetings. All of this is good for endocrinology, both basic and clinical, in Australia. ICE 2000 may not have made millions of dollars but it really has helped promote our area enormously. I am sure it will encourage our juniors to look forward to a career in Endocrinology.

I wish the new Council success and a trouble free term, and congratulations to the new members - Evan Simpson, Bruce Robinson and Cathie Coulter. The Council has a range of talents and backgrounds and I am sure it will look after ESA's interest very well.

Ray Rodgers
