Clinical
Weekend 2001
The ESA/APEG
Clinical Weekend was held on September 79, 2001 at the Nara
Resort/ Seaworld venue. As has been planned on a once in four year
basis, the APEG ASM was held in conjunction with the ESA Clinical
Weekend.
There were 146
delegates including 94 ESA members and 42 APEG members, with 24
members of both societies. The program included four main themes.
It dealt with endocrine axes during critical illness, with Dr Greet
van den Berghe the invited expert. It also covered genetics and
endocrinology, with issues of genetic counselling outlined by Dr
John McMillan. Bone developmental paradigms and hyperandrogenism
/obesity were the other themes.
Returned feedback
forms revealed moderate to high satisfaction with the program, high
satisfaction with the organisation and moderate satisfaction with
the venue.
Some specific
suggestions for future committees included a reduction in the cost
of the weekend, extending the trivial pursuit session, more sessions
on clinical case studies, better wines and several requests to schedule
the meeting during school holidays.
