Australasian
Women In Endocrinology
The
4th meeting of the “Australasian Branch of
Women in Endocrinology ” (AWE) was held
on Sunday September 14th at The Melbourne Convention Centre.
The reception again was well attended with over
50 registered for the event and was generously
sponsored by DSL-Australia with the continued support
of their Managing Director, Dr Sylvia Johnson.
Dr
Johnson attended the evening, and accepting the
2003 AWE-DSL Travel Award on behalf of Nicola Solomon,
was her supervisor, Dr Paul Thomas of the Murdoch
Children 's Research Centre. Unfortunately, Nicola
was unable to attend the ceremony due to family
illness. Daniel Mulvey of Novo Nordisk, also attended
the evening
and presented the 2003 AWE-Novo Nordisk Travel
Award to Dr Carolyn Allan of Prince Henry 's Institute
for Medical Research. AWE Certificate of Merit
Travel Awards were also awarded to Lauren Miles,
Marie Misso and Amanda Notini.
Annual
AWE-DSL and AWE-Novo Nordisk Travel grants of $1000
each, will be available again to attend ENDO 2004.
These awards are to assist senior PhD students
and post-doctoral fellows who are AWE members,
application forms will be available from
the ESA website in January 2004, and the deadline
for receipt of applications is April 15th 2004.The
5th meeting of AWE will again be supported by DSL-Australia
and will be held on Sunday August 22nd 2003, in conjunction
with the commencement of the ESA-SRB
conference in Sydney.
