Conditions of award
To commence in 2026, this award recognises the best oral case study presentation in the field of endocrine genetics at the ESA Annual Scientific Meeting. The winner will receive complimentary publication of their case report/series in Endocrinology Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports courtesy of Bioscientifica, subject to peer review. If desired by the winner, members of the EndoGen Steering Committee may provide editorial support in manuscript writing provided relevant expertise is available within the Steering Committee.
Eligibility
The applicant must:
To encourage the application of genetics across endocrinology, ESA members of any seniority are eligible to apply.
Whilst applicants may wish to submit their case for discussion at the bi-monthly National EndoGen MDT Meeting prior to the ESA ASM to aid clinical decision-making, this is not a requirement for eligibility for this award.
Application
Applicants will submit an abstract for oral presentation at the ESA ASM, confirming their interest in being selected for the EndoGen Prize in the abstract submission portal. The highest ranked abstracts will be reviewed by the EndoGen Steering Committee and invited to present their abstracts in a dedicated prize session. The number of finalists in the session will be at the discretion of the EndoGen Steering Committee and ESA ASM Program Organising Committee.
Selection
During the prize session, finalists will be assessed by a judging panel of three non-conflicted EndoGen Steering Committee members, ESA Council members and/or external assessors as required to avoid any conflicts of interest. Scoring will be based on scientific quality (20%), clinical impact for the patient (20%), broader relevance to endocrinology (20%), presentation quality (20%) and question handling (20%). The judging panel has a duty to apply the criteria equitably to all applicants.
Award Presentation
The award will be presented at the ESA ASM dinner.
